A child's first visit to the dentist

The first visit shapes how your child feels about dentists for life. How to make it pleasant: a play-based adaptation appointment.

At what age

The first check-up — after the first teeth erupt or no later than age 1. Then preventive check-ups every 3–6 months: baby-tooth enamel is thin and decay develops fast.

How to prepare your child

• don't use the words “it will hurt”, “injection”, “drill”;
• play “dentist” at home — count a toy's teeth;
• book a morning appointment — tired children are harder to engage in the evening;
• don't make promises like “it won't hurt” — the doctor runs the conversation.

What happens at the adaptation visit

Getting to know the office and a “chair ride”, a play-based exam, tooth brushing, care tips. Treatment only when the child is ready. Consultation with adaptation - 500 UAH.
