Caries treatment: from first signs to a filling
20.09.2026 · 5 min read
Caries is the most common dental disease. The sooner you see a dentist, the simpler and cheaper the treatment will be.
First signs of caries
- a white or dark spot on the enamel;
- sensitivity to sweet and cold;
- food getting stuck between the teeth;
- bad breath;
- sometimes pain for no reason.
Stages of caries
- initial — a spot appears on the enamel, the enamel is still intact;
- superficial — the lesion touches the enamel, sensitivity appears;
- moderate — caries reaches the dentin, the cavity becomes visible;
- deep — the lesion comes close to the nerve, the pain becomes stronger.
How treatment is carried out
- anesthesia — treatment is painless;
- removal of the affected tissues;
- cleaning the cavity;
- placing a composite filling;
- grinding and polishing.
Which fillings are placed
We use modern composite materials that match the colour of the tooth. For initial caries, remineralization without drilling is possible.
